We are still alive and kicking!!
First of all happy birthdays to Drina & Matilda! Hope the big days were celebrated in style
We have just dropped off the car in San Martin De los Andes. A beautiful town by a lake, surrounded by lush green mountains topped with white snow.
We are now heading towards Mendoza - the wine capital of Argentina! We're planning to do a winetour on bicycle!! :-)

Hi everyone!
Just a quick note to say we're back after a very tough and long trek in Chile's Torres del Paine national park where we have seen glaciers, amazing mountain peaks, turqouise lakes and had all types of weather; sunshine, rain, mist, hail and snow in addition to wind gusts with speeds up to 90 km/hour..!
We have just returned back to Argentina and El Calafate where we will now drive off to Tres Lagos, driving up the mystical, mythical and famous Ruta 40 that goes almost through the whole country.
Write more soon, just have to get back on the road before it's too late in the afternoon.

Peninsula Valdes - 31 Jan
We left the hostel early in the morning to have our first real challenge with the Argentinian gravel roads, which will be plenty more as only 30% of the roads are paved!
Peninsula Valdes is an amazing Marine wild life National Park where we saw plenty of Eagles, Llamas, foxes, elephant seals, penguins and the best of all hundreds of sea lions and their pups. This sight together with the noise they made was an experience we will not forget in a long time.
We stayed over night at the peninsula in okay but nothing more ACA (the automobil association's motel chain).
Best thing with the motel though is the view from the breakfast room a view over the bay - talking of breakfast; a little introduction to Argentine breakfast habits; coffee, small sweet croissants and small toast with Argentinian super sweet spread Dulce de leche is served everywhere.

Puerto Madryn - 30 Jan
Long day driving again. Reached Puerto Madryn in the evening where we stayed at super hostel with brand new hotel standard rooms for only 100 pesos per person.
Had crazy expensive meal - felt ripped off but still probably also the best fish dinner in ages so maybe worth it..
Puerto Madryn is our base for visiting Peninsula Valdes.

29 Jan Villa Gesell -> Mar del Plata -> Monte Hermoso
Early start with a Bus to Mar del Plata where we hired the car. The rest of the day was spent by learning to drive and navigate Argentinian style! We travelled a long way as once out of the towns there is very little traffic and the straightest roads you have ever seen - even the Romans would have been proud.
We finally arrived in another small seaside town; Monte Hermoso where we enjoyed a beautiful sunset thanks to extremely helpful tourist information who booked a room overlooking the ocean right on the seafront for us.
Yet another great meal of Argentinian beef but a little twist as we shared some chicken as well! They can certainly cook meat here - and sharing meals is a great idea!
