26 Jan - BOCA JUNIORS
Despite what you might think the driving force behind our visit to the infamous Boca Juniors FC was Maria. Her sudden football interest was sparked by national pride! You see an important part of Boca history, that of why they play in the colour of shirts that they do, is down to the Swedes! Following a dispute with a local team that played in the same colours, Boca had to change colours. Someone in the club came up with the brilliant idea that the next ship's colour of flag would decide the colours for the team! Which country do you think the ship came from?..
The stadium itself is quite small and run down versus expectations (they have 80000 members)), when we were there the grass was being replaced as destroyed by Elton John concert the week before.
We even saw the changing rooms with the players jacussi, sounds more luxurious than it actually was, Kieran however took the opportunity to have a quick shower in the same shower that Maradona must have used.
Time to say goodbye to Buenos Aires again - back on the nightbus, this time to go south with destination Villa Gesell. A seaside resort 6 hours down the coast.
